RSP Advocacy Workshop

18th May 2010, by

On Friday 14th May, repository staff gathered at the Kings Fund in London to participate in a workshop on communication skills for effective advocacy. The interactive programme covered influencing skills, sources of power and channels of communication. In the afternoon, we had a lively discussion about the objections to open access and repositories that people have encountered. This was followed by an opportunity to practice skills in the context of a number of scenarios – people got a chance to role play academics and repository staff.

The event was a success judging by the level of participation and involvement on the day and the feedback received so far. Thanks to all those who took part for their hard work and to Deborah Dalley, our excellent facilitator.
