First Briefing Event A Roaring Success

Warm November light greeted delegates to the leafy Farnham campus of the University College for the Creative Arts; and to the first of the RSP Professional Briefing and Networking events. The 12 delegates were able to interact extensively with the RSP team and their fellow repository workers in an engaging and active day of talks, workshops and discussion.

The focus of this first event was on new or recently launched repositories. After Pete Cliff (RSP, UKOLN) took the delegates through an overview of recent developments in the repository world, Monica Rivers-Lantham (University of Hertfordshire) spoke of her institution's experiences with repositories. The afternoon of the event was given over to an educational talk on metadata from Jackie Knowles (RSP, Aberystwyth ) followed by a challenging but engaging workshop on the same. Finally the day was surmounted with discussions and reflections on repository related work from the whole group.

As well as the presentations and workshops there was also an especial chance for the attendees to exclusively receive the pre-relase versions of the first RSP briefing papers; which will shortly be appearing on this site.

The RSP would like to offer especial thanks to Steph Everitt for her extensive efforts behind the scenes on and before the event, and to Rosemary Lynch for offering the venue in the first place.

More details on the continuing RSP Professional Briefing series of events can be found here. Slides and presentations from the day are also available.
