Fedora Training Event

27th January 2009, by

On the 22nd and 23rd of January the Repositories Support Project hosted an event at King's College London to allow members of the repositories community to familiarise themselves with the Fedora software platform.

Presentations by Sandy Payette, Executive Director of Fedora Commons, as well as by her colleague Thornton Staples were particularly well received, with the audience having no shortage of questions.

Delegates were treated to engaging presentations by Richard Green (University of Hull), Gareth Knight (CeRch, King's College London) and Matt Zumwalt (Mediashelf).

An innovative 'chalk and talk' session followed by a breakout workshop led by David Flanders was valuable in the community with a number of current issues within Fedora.

Refreshment breaks and lunches were structured so as to allow delegates to discuss points with speakers in more depth. Throughout the two-day course, delegates were free to ask questions and liaise with three representatives of the RSP to receive support to any issues arising in their own institutions.

Initial feedback from the event has been exceptionally positive and presentations are now available on the RSP website. Further RSP events covering a range of topics are currently being planned and will be announced shortly.

The RSP offers outreach and consultancy visits so if you have any ideas you would like to speak to us about, please don't hesitate to get in touch either at support@rsp.ac.uk or on 0845 257 6860.
