RSP DSpace Technical Day

The day consisted of two strands (and participants were free to move between each):

Strand 1:consisting of an open 'surgery' where you can get free consultancy, advice, problem solving etc.

Strand 2:consisting of:

A basic tutorial in the morning -
  • Introduction to DSpace System
  • Metadata & Schema Management
  • Submission system configuration (submission.xml, input-forms.xml)
  • Understanding the workflow system
  • Search & browsing system configuration
  • Introduction to development
  • CRON & utility scripts (batch import, etc.)
An advanced tutorial in the afternoon -
  • Advanced installation (LDAP, Multilingualism/Internationalisation, Security[DSpace over HTTPS])
  • Handles/Persistent identification
  • Storage abstraction in DSpace
  • Lucene Search
  • DSpace & Manakin
  • Configurable Browse/Submission
  • Addon/Event Mechanism/Maven

The day wrapped up with a preview of DSpace 1.5.

Who should attend?

The day long event was aimed specifically at repository administrators, technical support staff and developers engaged in the day-to-day operation and development of repositories.
