The Repositories Support Project (RSP) ran from November 2006 – 31 July 2013. During that time the RSP ran 50 face-to-face events; 7 residential schools and 43 one-day events. Over 1,506 delegates attended events, from 257 different organizations. The RSP hosted 16 webinars for 1,017 delegates, 270 of which were international. A large proportion of the international delegates were from the USA, Ireland, Lithuania, Spain, Portugal and Mexico. Delegates also attended online webinars from Argentina, South Africa, Canada, Nigeria, Italy, Germany and other locations. The RSP conducted 94 consultancy visits. RSP has been active in supporting the development of the national infrastructure. This map shows the insitutions who have had a representative at an RSP event. We are very pleased that it reflects the national spread of HE institutions.

This half day event will focus on the findings of two recent and complementary research projects funded by the JISC: “Influencing the deposit of E-Theses in Higher Education” undertaken by University College London and a study by the British Library: “Gathering evidence of the benefits of increased visibility and impact of open access theses”; which evaluated the impact of the ‘Electronic Theses Online Service (EThOS).

In addition information on other copyright issues, e.g. E-theses, Images, Books, will be covered. This workshop has been influenced by the RSP Workshop for Repository Administrators, however, there will be more focus on RoMEO and Copyright related issues.

It aims to explore issues and new developments in depth, provide practical advice for day to day work and inspire delegates to take a fresh approach to their role. Martin Hall, Vice-Chancellor of Salford University, will provide the keynote speech descibing the ground breaking work at Salford in promoting open access.

This one day conference includes a rich variety of speakers, each of whom will present an insight into 'doing it differently'. It provides a unique opportunity to hear about alterntative approaches to repository-like functions, open access and the general field of improving research communications. There is no one uniform approach and each of the speakers will cover very different projects, ideas and services; including Mendeley, Xpert, Kultur and SNEEP as well as reflections on using blogs for scholarly communications and iTunesU for learning resources.

The RoMEO API is a machine-to-machine interface that lets programs query the RoMEO database of publishers' open access archiving policies and to incorporate the results in applications. In this workshop, you will learn how the API works, and how people have been exploiting it to improve their local services.
