This was an opportunity for repository administrators to meet and discuss the issues they face on a day to day basis. In addition there were presentations by experts in the field who are experienced in the management of institutional repositories.

Communication Skills for Effective Advocacy

This workshop will investigate the methods which repository managers can use to influence key people in their institutions and develop their advocacy skills to a higher level. It will explore fears and anxieties arising from the advocacy role and aid in understanding the sources of power we use to influence others. It will include the opportunity to practise the skills needed to handle these situations confidently. Open Access and Repositories in the Arts

A one-day meeting arranged to bring together librarians, research managers and information professionals from colleges of art, design, music, drama and communications, to explore issues surrounding open access to outputs in these fields. The meeting will be made up of a series of presentations from experts in the field, as well as breakout groups and a final plenary session.
Research in the Open: How Mandates Work in Practice

The Repositories Support Project (RSP) and the Research Information Network
(RIN) are holding this free event to look at how researchers are responding to
mandates to include the results of their research work in repositories. It will
cover the issues around both research funders’ and institutional mandates at
institutional, subject-based and national levels and ask how these mandates
are working in practice.

RSP Winter School 2009

This was a prestigious event where delegates could learn about and discuss the finer points of institutional repositories from the experts, with opportunities to share issues and tips with their peers.
Fedora Training Days

On the 22nd and 23rd of January the Repositories Support Project hosted an event at King's College London to allow members of the repositories community to familiarise themselves with the Fedora software platform.
Repository Services Day

Each day is aimed at a different audience: the first of these days (2nd June) will be aimed at new repository managers and support staff. The second day (11th July) will be aimed at new technical staff supporting the repository.
RSP Summer School 2008

The RSP Summer School is an intensive three day residential course which aims to deliver a
comprehensive programme to address the practical challenges and solutions to effective repository
development.
2008 Focussed Events
This RSP series of day and half-day workshops was held across the UK. These events took single themes identified as key training issues from earlier event feedback and offered focussed training and support to the delegates in attendance. As with all earlier RSP events these were offered at no-cost to attendees.
- Focussed Events - Metadata, 11 Mar 2008, University of Wolverhampton - The second RSP focussed event concentrating on the theme of metadata
- Hosted Repository Software: A seminar for repository managers, 27 Mar 2008, University of Surrey, Guildford - A half day event where organisations using outsourced repository solutions can come together to discuss matters of mutual interest
- Repository Services Day, 23 Apr 2008, University of Nottingham - A day highlighting in practical detail the latest developments and plans from crucial repository services in the UK (including RoMEO, the Depot, Intute RS etc.)
Welsh Metadata Day

This event focussed on the metadata issues encountered by open access repository managers.
Repository Administrator Professional Briefing & Networking Events

During each one-day meeting the RSP offered extensive opportunity for peer-to-peer networking and discussions, short focussed workshops practising key repository skills, as well the opportunity to hear from invited practitioners on their repository developments and experience. Each event had at its heart an emphasis on practical advice, suitable for potential implementation.
